The Voyager 40L Travel Backpack is the bag we built after four years of watching travelers wrestle top-loading packs at airport check-in. It opens completely flat like a suitcase, so you pack in layers instead of digging through a tube, and it closes down to a profile that clears the 22 x 14 x 9 inch domestic cabin limit even when it is fully loaded.
The shell is woven from 900D recycled ballistic nylon with a polyurethane weather coating, reinforced at every stress point with bar-tack stitching and finished in YKK AquaGuard zippers that resist grit and rain. Inside, a suspended 16-inch laptop sleeve keeps your computer off the floor when you set the bag down, and a zippered mesh divider separates worn clothing from clean.
What makes it comfortable over long days is the harness: a die-cut EVA back panel with airflow channels, contoured S-curve shoulder straps, a sternum strap and a removable padded hip belt that transfers roughly 70% of the load off your shoulders onto your hips. Stow the harness behind the back panel and the Voyager becomes a clean-sided duffel for baggage handling.
